ECF bot framework…
Friday, March 30th, 2007I have just finished writing a tutorial for Eclipse’s wiki that details how you would go about creating a bot with the new APIs that Chris and Scott worked on. Since I started hacking on the code a little too late, a critical bug fix that I had committed to CVS HEAD could not make it to ECF’s 1.0.0M6 build. So as stated in the tutorial, if you would like to try the code out, please get the code from CVS HEAD.
Dell to offer PCs with Linux preinstalled…
Thursday, March 29th, 2007If you have not heard, you better take a look see now. This might be an incentive for me to not buy a new Fujitsu notebook and to go with a Dell instead. Only time will tell once their product offerings are unleashed. More to come then!
Spring 2007 anime series…
Saturday, March 24th, 2007Well, April’s going to roll around real soon, which means another new season of anime is about to be aired. At the moment, I plan to watch the following:
精霊の守り人:
With Production I.G at the helm, it’s hard to think that anything can go wrong. However, after BLOOD+, I guess I may have to eat my own words after the ending has aired. We’ll find out then.
魔法少女リリカルなのは StrikerS:
Well, the third season of Nanoha has finally dawned upon us. Surprisingly unlike some other “magical girl” shows, Nanoha packed awesome action scenes with likeable characters. Unfortunately, from the website, it seems that a lot of the characters I like such as Yuno and Amy won’t be appearing much (or at all), but of course, a good storyline can always do it for me.
Claymore:
I actually only stumbled upon this series in passing today by chance, really. The art looks rather unique although I have to say that the main heroine is nothing to cry home about. However, as I’m a sucker for medieval history and Houko Kuwashima, I just might have to watch this.
エル・カザド:
Did someone say “girls-with-guns”? Yes, I think someone just did say that. This show will be the last of the “girls-with-gun” trilogy started by Bee Train, the other two being Noir and MADLAX. Yuki Kajiura will of course be composing for this series, which gains a multitude of bonus points from me. I can’t say I’ve ever watched any western-based anime series ever, so this should at least be a decent ride.
風のスティグマ:
This show is like 『灼眼のシャナ』 all over again, except that we’ve now replaced the lead heroine with a teenager. The flames look pretty badass, so it might be worth watching just for the fighting scenes. Well, as long as they’re at least somewhat on par with the final battle of 『ローゼンメイデン・トロイメント』 and not like the disastrous one we had in 『魔法少女リリカルなのは A’s』, we should be okay here, folks.
I didn’t provide air dates since we’re all watching fansubs anyway. Though I will admit I may go ahead with a jump start and watch the raws for a few of these to do some preemptive evaluations. More to come then (maybe…you all know how I am with blogging promises).
Exam schedule for 2007 winter term…
Friday, March 23rd, 2007Well, everyone knows that the schedule has been out for a while, so nothing new there. For myself, however, I had merely glanced at it a few weeks ago just to confirm that I had no conflicts and then I placed it as an aside immediately. Hence, I reviewed it just a little while ago to see how things will play out during those upcoming weeks in April. I know no one cares, but here it is.
April 11 - 1230-1500 - MATH 125
April 12 - 0900-1130 - ANTH 102
April 12 - 1930-2200 - ACTSCI 221
April 18 - 1930-2130 - ECON 102
I don’t remember it being this bad when I glanced at it. I was of the impression that I had two on two days, twice, with a gap in between (if that made any sense), but I guess not. If you’re asking where STV 205 is, we’re going to be taking the final in class next week on Wednesday.
BlackApple?
Wednesday, March 21st, 2007I am in STV 205 right now, literally. And our professor just referred to the famous BlackBerry as a BlackApple. Wow…just wow.
Woah, that went by fast…
Wednesday, March 21st, 2007So there are only two weeks of school left, eh? It didn’t really occur to me until I bothered to actually think about what today’s date was beyond the fact that it’s just a mere number. This of course means that I’m running out of ECON 102 lectures with Larry Smith, which of course, is a real drag.
Seriously, everybody should take this course. I don’t care if I’m going to fail this course or not (which would as result kick me out of UW), because I’m damn glad I’ve had the privilege of being taught by him. It’s that good. Sign up next term for it if you’ve got a slot to spare, you won’t regret it.
For the record, I got 28/36 on the second midterm (since there was no math involved), so if I can get that kind of grade, all you geniuses that reads my blog should have no problems whatsoever.
Thank you, Google…
Thursday, March 15th, 2007While they still do scare me (and probably will for a while or possibly forever), I still do appreciate the kind gesture they have extended by accepting Haiku as one of the mentor organizations for this year’s Summer of Code program. Well done, Google!
Hamlet, sane or insane?
Tuesday, March 13th, 2007I know I should be working on my paper for STV 205 that’s due tomorrow (paper, haha, a paper that’s only 1,000 words long that is…okay, I’ll stop now before I start bad mouthing this class…again), but the above question has arisen at where I live. To cut to the chase here, Kitty brought up the famous line “To be, or not to be” as she saw it used in a drama she’s been watching (or maybe just a reference to it, but whatever). This subsequently lead to a brief discussion on Hamlet’s sanity.
Personally, I always found the chap to be a sane man myself, although Sam and Kitty appears to think otherwise. Sam appears to be under the impression that since the guy saw some ghosts, he just has to be nuts. I find this argument (just) a little…how to say…unfounded? “is the tempest about insane ppl / since it has magic” is what my brother brought up on MSN. Some people may be reading into Shakespeare’s works a little too much (perhaps some hints of “symbolism” should just be taken at face value?), but I think Sam’s interpretation is oversimplifying things a tad, you?
“Dreamfall Chapters” will continue the “Longest Journey” saga…
Thursday, March 8th, 2007I just noticed this article whilst browsing Wikipedia and it seems that Funcom has been granted a fund by the Norwegian Film Fund again. While Funcom has made it clear that there would be a third in the series, getting the official word is truly excellent news. I really do need access to a better computer so that I can play Dreamfall.
