Emonic, an Eclipse plug-in for the C# language…

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

I originally thought that there was only Improve’s and Black-sun’s in existence for the C# language. However, it seems that I’ve been proven wrong, there’s actually also Emonic. The most recent commit was less than two days ago and it just had a release on May 14th, so this project is definitely alive and kicking. Oddly enough, it’s using the CPL instead of the EPL, but whatever! It’s alive and well and that’s what matters (and it doesn’t *cough* use the GPLv2 or the LGPL). I’ve submitted two little patches to their bug tracker (one for using OSGi manifests instead of the deprecated plugin.xml way and another for a tweak in its horrid wizard user interface) and am now patiently awaiting a response. I’ll report back when I’ve gotten a reply.

ひぐらしのなく頃に解 Ep. 01

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

I was a little bit caught off guard by this episode since I was expecting it to start off with “皆殺し編”…but that didn’t happen. From what I’ve gathered, this episode somewhat acts as a recap episode in addition to revealing further information that may not have been obvious from the first season. Note that the first actual arc isn’t going to be “皆殺し編” either because they’re apparently going to be adding a new original arc, “厄醒し編”, before moving on to the last two arcs.

So, this episode essentially builds on top of the information that was revealed to the first season’s viewers during the phone conversation that Rena and Keiichi had about what Takano had written in her scrapbooks. It’s kind of surprising how I didn’t make the connections about some of the revelations, but really, they all do fit together. I wouldn’t say that there were any plot holes or anything of that matter. I really don’t recall Rena mentioning anything about biological weapons when she took the students hostage, so it was a bit of a surprise to me when they mentioned that it was all (”probably”) a hoax.

For the clueless people like me, this was a rather good episode as it revealed more information that helps put us further back into context of the plot at hand. For those that already got the plot, spoiled themselves, or even played the game, I guess this wasn’t that great (like all “recap” episodes). If nothing else, I guess you at least got a chance to see the great opening and ending animation sequences and hear the new songs. Both songs are very good in my opinion and I’m really looking forward to listening to their full versions. The next episode is going to truly kick off the second season season with the first chapter of the “厄醒し編”. With a projected length of twenty-four episodes, I just hope they don’t screw up the pacing.

GARNET CROW website renewal…

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

Wow, the new site sure looks a lot more professional than the old one. Navigation’s also a lot easier now without having to constantly go back and forth just to switch sections. The discography section itself is much improved now that everything is all laid out instead of waiting for that box to scroll, that old way sure was annoying.

I can now also finally read the news. I’m not sure if this is a Linux issue or not since I’m pretty sure I tried to browse it from Sam’s computer when he had booted into Windows, but the fact of the matter is that the Japanese text is now being rendering properly despite it being embedded in Flash. Woohoo!

ひぐらしのなく頃に解 begins…

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

And so it begins…or not…because the second season aired its first episode in Japan at 0327 on the 6th yesterday, actually. Anyway, this would have been my most anticipated anime series for 2007 if they hadn’t announced a second season for 『灼眼のシャナ』. I’m probably going to try and pick up a raw later since the excitement is really killing me here.

IBM Confidential…

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Working on confidential material is cool because it’s an interesting concept/technology that (we think) no one has done or that no one has done it “our way”. On the other hand, you can’t talk to anyone about it.

At least I can talk to my Eclipse friends that work at IBM about it. If I couldn’t talk about it to any of my “casual” hacking friends (as in, not being able to talk to anyone about it outside of the “work” scope), I think I might’ve died already.
