Fall 2007 anime series…
There’s only a little more than two weeks left of September and the coming month of October brings a slew of new anime series. With an existing blogging backlog of three series, things aren’t looking too good for this next season. I’m going to try and watch and blog a couple of episodes this weekend, but of course, given the ridiculous number of episodes that I am behind in, it probably won’t really be doing too much good at the end of the day.
Anyway, let’s leave such unhappy news behind and take a look see at what’s coming in October.
ef - a tale of memories. (row 1, column 1):
Well, I wrote a blog entry about this this one a couple of days ago. For clarification purposes, the anime’s name will be ef - a tale of memories. and the name of the “series” or “project” is ef - a fairy tale of the two.. The first game named ef - the first tale. was released last year and part two, aptly named ef - the latter tale., is supposedly set for release later this year. And oh, if you haven’t caught on yet, the periods are an actual part of the name and is not a result of me not punctuating my sentences properly. Of course, the creation of a category in my blog bears a strong implication of the fact that I will likely blog about this series.
灼眼のシャナ II (row 3, column 1):
I don’t think it’s necessary for me to comment on this series, so I won’t.
逮捕しちゃうぞフルスロットル (row 3, column 2):
This was extremely unexpected. It’s been many years since they did anything in this series’ space and I’m surprised that they’ve to make a comeback of sorts. Then again, I guess if someone could make a remake of Reideen, what’s to say you can’t do a remake for 「逮捕しちゃうぞ」. I can’t say that I like the art though life may be different in the actual show. Anyway, I’ve always liked this comedy series since I first watched the OVA many years ago, so I’ll definitely be checking this one out.
機動戦士ガンダム00 (row 3, column 3):
I don’t know if I can watch Gundam again after Destiny, but since they’re supposedly making it span twenty-five episodes instead of the usual fifty-ish range, this could be bearable. I definitely won’t be blogging this, now that much is certain.
レンタルマギカ (row 4, column 6):
Jacky and I found this while going through some anime blogs that were talking about the next season. The artwork was surprisingly good and really caught our eyes. The anime’s art on the other hand seems like standard fare to me although things might take a different turn when I actually see it in motion. The seiyu cast seems really good with Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch from Code Geass), Kana Ueda (Rin from Fate/stay night, Hayate from the Nanoha series), Mikako Takahashi (Ayu from Honey & Clover), Daisuke Ono (Yukito from the TV series of AIR, Koizumi from Haruhi), Junichi Suwabe (Archer from Fate/stay night, Friagne from 「灼眼のシャナ」), Rie Kugimiya (Shana from 「灼眼のシャナ」), and Shizuka Itou (Hinagiku from 「ハヤテのごとく!」, Akiha from 「真月譚 月姫」). I think I’m going to cry if this series suffers (in art quality and other such areas) because they burned their budget on hiring this stellar cast.
CLANNAD (not featured in the image):
I don’t know anything about this series, but since it’s by Key, who we all know are the creators of Kanon and AIR, I’m going to give this a shot. Since this year’s remake of Kanon by Kyoto Animation failed to meet my expectations, I think my bar’s dropped a little lower which may make it possible for them to redeem itselves with CLANNAD. It’ll be difficult to top AIR, but it should be a decent series if they even attempt to do so. ;)
スケッチブック ~full color’S~ (not featured in the image):
I can always use a good “slice of life” series and this one seemed good enough to fit that role. I also like Yui Makino, which assisted in the selection process. I enjoyed her role as Sakura in 「ツバサ・クロニクル」 and the few songs that I’ve heard from her have been absolutely wonderful (of course, she may not be performing any songs for this series, but anyway…). I don’t have much else to go on for this beyond this “blind faith”, so if it turns out to be bad, this could very well be the last time you see me bring up this show on my blog.
